Shannon and the Clams

Playing Portland’s Project Pabst festival… its Shannon and the Clams! one of my favorite bands. Listening to them always makes me want to play joyous music.

These are drawings I made of Shannon and the band in 2015. wow 10 years ago! Am I any better now?

I’m working on a new play about a band. I was inspired reading Kathleen Hannah’s book “Riot Girl” and listening to this podcast interviewing Shannon. It sounded like she was a cool person and listening was like hanging out with friends. I’ll let you know when the play is finished 🙂 the plan is it will be a “behind the music” style documentary about a fantasy band.

March fourth marching band

I made this drawing months ago at their wow hall show in Eugene and I’ve been working on inking and coloring it.

This band always puts on a fun show and I highly recommend you catch them live sometime. I drew on a BIG piece of Bristol board and I was able to fit every musician in, but I wish I had taken more reference photos at the time.

Here was one of the photos I took that night 🙂

Band drawings summer 2023

Kef playing downtown Eugene

I was able to make two drawings during their 2 hour set. They play traditional Balkan music.

Black Magdalene play organic dark wave, music to belly dance to.

I took photos of the show and made drawings at home based on them. I was fun to add the lace effect in the background. Their music is on Spotify!

Banter Waves play guitar based jazz, sometimes jammy covers of pop songs. It’s very chill and the drummer hits trashed cymbals and boxes with springs mounted on them.
Math Fourth play exciting zany marching band circus music with rock and funk! They put on a wild party every time! their music is on Spotify and all the streaming sites, and their music has appeared in films! This was their show at the wow hall.

Mood Area 52 and Geo 4

100_2908 100_2910 100_2907 100_2906Some drawings I made of the always wonderful Mood Are 52… and the band they opened for “GEO 4” a new jazz group that leans towards tango, funk, gypsy and (in my opinion) loungy surf rock like “the Aquavelvets.”
